Outcome #1
In general, I tend to re-work my papers many times before finally being content with the arrangement of my paper and the ideas that I am trying to get across. With that said, the revision process for my papers throughout the semester has developed to an extent. After going back and re- reading my first paper it is clear that the majority of the revisions I made were much more sentence level. The revisions that I would make to my papers throughout the course have developed. Instead of switching sentences around, I found myself switching paragraphs around. Instead of only seeing the local corrections, I began to look more globally and rearrange my papers so that they would flow and carry aspects of my thesis throughout. For example, in my meal analysis essay I had a pretty basic thesis and a decent transition of ideas throughout. However, it was not until I connected all my ideas together by extending my thesis and adding more glue sentences, that I really felt as though my paper was complete. The “Redefinition of Home” was the connecting point that gave my paper a purpose, and it wasn’t until my final draft that I finally reached this level of understanding and consistency within my paper. The growth of my revision process has allowed my ideas to develop and flow better throughout my papers.
