Outcome #2
The part of my papers that would take the most amount of time always seemed to be finding a connection between the quotes and my ideas. I worked to try and find a different angle that would make my paper different from everyone else’s. With the texts that we worked with, there were usually quotes that were easier to incorporate compared to others. Usually I tried to find quotes that would highlight a different idea, but still relate to the argument I was trying to make in my paper. I did this mostly because all of the papers that we wrote had very similar themes, so I would find ways to make them all take a different approach. The final draft of my meal analysis essay was my best example of working quotes in order to really connect my entire paper. Each of the quotations that I selected from my peer’s essays all related back to their feeling of home in one way or another. I was trying to capture how three different people with completely different stories all related their favorite food back to their individual feeling of home. Throughout the class a big theme has always been engaging with the text, and I feel as though my quotations usually do a pretty good job both supporting each other, and the point that I am trying to achieve. This course has helped me become more aware of my engagement with the text, and also helped me realize the importance of picking worthy quotes that make your point the more clear.
